The fate of indigenous culture is closely tied to the fate of all humanity in ways that people from developed nations are only beginning to recognize. Issues like sustainability and environmental health and the implications for all humanity are easily revealed in the everyday life of the indigenous of Guatemala. The work of several outstanding individuals and groups have made our pueblo a veritable Mecca for the study of indigenous culture and a model for how the ‘first world’ must come to understand there truly there is no ‘third world’ but rather One World.
